2022 Family Update
For the Jim and Lori Standring Family, 2022 brought trips to Hawaii's Big Island with Kira (volcanoes, waterfalls and scuba diving with manta-rays), Mexico and Alaska on cruises, touring Sweden (including meeting relatives) and Latvia and Estonia with Daniel in BYU Men's Chorus (and us to Iceland on the way home), San Diego for Lori's birthday, Thanksgiving with Jim's Mom and his brother and family for the first time in years in Fullerton, CA and a big Spa Day at Fairmont Sonoma for his Mom's 90th birthday, Jim's ideal 65th birthday in his Southern California hometown of Fullerton (planned by him with his favorite activities--beach at Corona del Mar and Newport, boating, fishing, go-carts, 5K's for some, scuba diving at Catalina with Daniel), son Garrett's graduation in June as a new DMD (Dentist) in Arizona at Midwestern University School of Dentistry, Kira's graduation in December from Utah College of Dental Hygiene as a new Registered Dental Hygienist (she did some modeling for the BYU Store, also) and upcoming work as a researcher with Clinician's Report and the renowned Dr. Rella Christensen, a new baby (named "James Theodore Standring"!) for son David and AmberLee (the #17th Grandkid for us now), baptism for Jimmer and April's daughter Mazy (and Jimmer made her and his other kids cool wooden gifts using tools from Grandpa Carver--Lori's Dad who left us in 2021), us working at the Medford Oregon temple, Lori attending some amazing Tuacahn (St. George) outdoor plays with Jason's family (and spending time helping them with the kids), target shooting, community choir, remodeling starting on Jim's Crescent City dental office building after our son (the new dentist) Dr. Garrett worked with us for a few months in the fall until he started in a dental practice in Arizona (and I joined them at the office some of the days to help out the team while he was working also), but now we've been having water damage inside the building (due to poor timing of roof removal and poor tarping of the roof area while intense wet Northern California winter storms hit), and, unfortunately, a marriage annulment for Daniel, and Lori's mother passing away in May after her daughters all got to spend her 93rd birthday with her, then on to us buying Lori's parents' home in Provo where they'd lived for decades, and Daniel making the BYU Cheer and Stunt Team (after starting up the BYU Men's Gymnastics Club) so we've been making lots of trips to attend BYU games this past fall as well and on into the winter, and Christmas in Utah for the first time in many years (rotating events and celebrations between houses of our kids that live there and also happily, Christmas Dinner at our "new-to-us" Provo house where we can come to visit but don't live there, maintaining our residence in Crescent City still. We now look forward to 2023, with Mark Hunter and Sam's new baby due in July (after her PhD graduation in Entomology from UC Riverside where they live now) and after the very big, fluffy doggy they got (named "Everest") last summer to start increasing their household size. Here's sincerely hoping for a good year with 2023. May it be so for all!
Love, and best wishes, from the Jim and Lori Standring Family
